our roots

Angel, Lobo, and the start of it all

Our true beginning was in 2008, when Steven was battling Stage IV cancer and we adopted Angel, a Northern BC rescue from the Kelowna SPCA. Angel brought hope and healing, inspiring us to launch “Healing Dog Walks,” which evolved into ANGELS K9 SERVICES.

Shortly afterward, we met Lobo through a client named Elaine. Lobo eventually joined our family, motivating us to open our fully fenced outdoor adventure park—Lobo Land. Though Angel and Lobo have passed on, their legacy lives through every wagging tail that steps through Ruffin’ It’s doors.

Our support

A family-built dream

Ruffin’ It was shaped by unwavering family support. During the renovation of our Government Street location, Jen’s mom and dad (Linda and John) and her stepfather Howard arrived every weekend to deconstruct, paint, clean, and tackle any task at hand. Their dedication showed us that family truly forms the core of everything we do.

What’s next

Growing together

From those first off-leash walks, we grew into one of Victoria’s most trusted dog care providers. In 2024, we expanded into a larger facility, doubling our services and welcoming even more dogs into our circle. Personal challenges, family milestones, and the loyal companionship of beloved dogs have only deepened our commitment to compassion, respect, and genuine love.

We invite you to share in our story—because at Ruffin’ It, dogs are never just clients; they’re family.
